Family is important to us at American Wear. That includes our immediate families, coworkers, friends and the greater community here in East Orange. We want to take care of our family, which is why we participate in an annual coat drive.
Every fall, American Wear distributes gently used coats to those in need in Essex County. This year, we’re once again partnering with Outpost in the Burbs to make the coat drive as productive as possible. The coats are given to families and single people who are elderly, disables, home-bound, unemployed, or underemployed.
If you happen to have a few extra coats in good condition lying around, we would love to contribute them to the drive. Contact us to learn how you can donate. We gladly accept new coats, too!
We at American Wear think it’s important to give back to your community. Here are just a few reasons why:
- It boosts employee morale. Participating in charities and other philanthropic initiatives helps workers feel good about themselves and the place they work. This builds loyalty and contributes to a positive atmosphere in the company.
- It builds a strong relationship within the community. One study revealed that more than 90% of consumers would switch to a brand supporting a good cause. Beyond the obvious reasons for helping those in need, a positive business return is just a bonus.
It’s the right thing to do! Simply put, we believe companies that have experienced commercial success have a responsibility to give back to their community and spread the love among the local residents and their neighbors. Giving isn’t just for the holidays; it can and should be a year-round commitment, and over time it will develop from an occasional activity to a way of life.
